Well the Sodbury Slog lived up to expectation. Mud and a really nice course. Dave, Tony and I all completed the course despite little training. Its definitely an event I expect us to enter yearly along with the Horton Bull run. A well organised event will good amount of people competing.

Rat Race Dirty Weekend 2016

The pinnacle of the running season for the Charfield Chuggers was this weekend and as always it lived up to expectation. So much so Tony has already signed up for next year’s event less than 24 hours after finishing. What I love about this OCR event compared to all others is the complete package!

Chepstow Stampede 10km Challenge

Early Saturday morning me (Dave) and Tony got ready to take on the Chepstow stampede. The conditions were going to be tough due to the wet weather, but optimism soon changed and 1 mile in to the race I was in second place, with Tony taking it a bit easier and pacing himself but things were looking good. Then came the challenge with hills not being my strong point second place wasn’t going to last long and two miles in I had dropped back to 10th which was still good going but the continuos hills started to take its toll and I started to drop back.

Horton Winter Bull Run

Today was the day Horton Winter Bull run, a race aimed at more serious runners and comprises road and off-road terrain along with some testing early inclines. This was the first event as a 3 some since the Severn Bridge Half Marathon in August and it will have proved as a good training event for Dave and Tony who are competing in the Chepstow Stampede next weekend. I should also mention Charlie “Chaz” Walwin who appears to be the latest member of the Chuggers also joined us, a brave feat given his minimal amount of training.
